Easter in Cooktown

We had a lovely relaxing weekend in Cooktown for Easter...

John B, John V, John W and Bev
aka Pop, John, Dad and Nanna!!
John had fun playing outside with Pop and Dad in the dirt and water after the rain.He almost wore the bucket of water quite a few times and was quite wet and muddy by the time he'd finished!
John also had fun inside finding all sorts of things we didn't know were around
... like a gecko that he tried to eat on Easter Sunday morning!! We thought he was being a bit too quiet, then heard him cough like he has somethin in his mouth - Daddy checked and thought "he hasn't had banana this morning" .. so he put his finger in and pulled out a small tail-less and skin-less gecko! (sorry no pics of that!)
Ewww... although better that than a cockroach I think!

We did find other wildlife too...

We saw this lovely Green Frog on Easter Sunday evening out on the veranda.

And then this little (approx 1m) amethyst python.

He was fascinated by Nanna's Tuba...and tried to play it after she'd played him a little tune... maybe he'll learn it when he gets big enough for his mouth to actually fit the mouthpiece.

It was all very tiring for young John, but that didn't mean he always wanted to go to bed. Obviously Mum didn't move the cot far enough away from the dresser in the study and John decided to read the vacuum cleaner instructions (dunno why he'd want to do that... maybe he'll be domesticly minded when he grows up!) then a bit of pub history (the book under his head is pubs in early cooktown or something like that), he also checked out the map for camping later in the year, and played a game of cards too before he get tired enough to sleep!

John was fascinated by the dog Filo. He was so good with John too; letting him pat his paws and tail and being so gentle with him when he got up to leave the couch (after he'd had enough of having his tail pulled and bitten!). John did pat him normally too which Filo didn't mind. John also helped Nanna give Filo his "Smackos" in the morning too. The first time John gave it to Filo fine, but the second time John wanted to hold onto it and not give it to the dog! Eventually Nanna pursuaded John that it was Filo's food and he should let go!

John enjoys Filo while Pop keeps an eye on things.
